I chose to write first about the painting’s during the era of “Impressionism”.I love art and I do a little bit of painting myself.Further on I will take a painting and write based on my experience the techniques that can be used to make the painting.
Impressionism is the art during the 19th century.Among the famous painters during this period, my favourite one is Claude Monet . When ever I see his paintings , the intricacy and technique he uses, I am always awe struck and fascinated. The plain natural art is difficult, but the geniusness lies when one find their innovative and unique approach.
These paintings are made with a hazy look. When we actually look from a distance they form perfect figures. But when one brings them close to the naked eye,one will know the brush strokes involved in bringing in the effect. The site header picture is from Monets collection of paintings ,it’s a complete masterpiece.
I will start of by explaining the following simple Impressionitic painting.

First thing is the canvas, you can choose to paint either or canvas board or on canvas paper.I would prefer a canvas board. There are a variety of canvas boards available. The two basic types are, one in which the canvas paper is stuck on a hard board and the other in which the paper is rolled over a frame. In the first type, one must frame the painting. In the second type one must end the painting onto the edges of the frame and hang it as it is.If you choose to paint on canvas paper, canvas pads containing a set of 10 sheets,100 sheets is available.Easle is not required unless one finds discomfort in painting without it.But easle is useful to hold the painting, enabling it to dry.
Oil painting is done in layers and hence , one need not be great at skethcing .So for those of you not good and drawing or good at approximate estimation of the drawing heres the way.Firstly divide picture you wish to paint into grid view and mark to scale on the canvas. Label the grids and begin drawing to scale.
Other requirements for this painting:Palette or a tile.Tiles are easier to maintain and one can scrape off the old paint and reuse them, some palettes are temporary so one has to dispose them after they ahve been used. For painting, brushes used are : Flat brushes and pointed brush you can choose a number between 3 6 8 depending on your choice, thin brush 1 or 2.Linseed Oil,Paint thinner(not recommened),Tupentine(most used).Clean Cloth and Small cup for taking the turpentine .
To begin painting, please avoid taking too much oil, because it will make the paint thin and makes the painting look dull.Observe the painting closely, it’s more like an illusion.Go behind the foremost figures and the parts that get the eye.We observe that the base color is purple.Mix blue, red, white to obtain this color. One can choose crimson red, pearl white and blue.Or one can buy french ultramarine blue which has a purple in it.I would prefer mixing the colors if the shade isnt rare. Now the background is lesser violet and more blue so mix more blue .Once it begins to dry add strokes of violet here and there based on the picture. Now allow the painting to dry.
Once the painting is dry (it may be 10 % wet) , first try putting a little paint and see if it mixes too much with the base color. If so allow it to further dry.Else, begin. Now take the flat brush for painting the lotuses on the top part of the painting and a round brush for the below part.Take good paint and put the circle. For the middle part either wait for it to dry or first wipe the brush clean very carefully take paint and just put a small stroke following the picture.Follow the same steps for all the lillies and lotuses.Once this is done, take the thin brush 1/2.If you can manage with a round thin 3 brush , it is fine.Take green hue and make vertical brush strokes and each time the stroke fades take more paint.Sign your painting:) .Allow it to dry.It may take about 10 days.Once it is dry ,it can be given to be framed.Wala your painting is ready
